Greetings fellow Jiggers & Poppers, we trust that you are all well and getting time on the water with rods in hand. The summer conditions have finally arrived, with some good catches (and releases) being reported both locally, from Mozambique and from Madagascar.

In this newsletter, we are announcing the newly arrived hollow-core braid splicing accessories to complement our range of Jerry Brown Line One Hollow-core braids which have revolutionised connection techniques for braid-to-braid, and braid-to-leader connections. In the next few weeks we will post some “How to” tackle tips on the various splicing techniques to keep you occupied during the occasional rainy day.

As for big fish pictures, Gary Wallace recently Jigged at Nosy Be in Madagascar and boated a Potato Bass of around 80Kg on a 2010 Jigstar Kojak 250g rod / JM PE4 reel combination. This was NOT the species Gary was targeting, but is still an amazing catch using one of our lightest Jigging system offerings. Apparently there was a lot of humour on the boat when she finally made the surface after a 15 minute battle. The fish was SAFELY released, and is probably complaining about why heavy metal jigs don’t taste good!

Congrats Gary, this is the biggest fish to date on the little JSR250g rod / JM PE 4 Combo.

Andre also put his popping gear to good use at Linene last week from the side and landed this magnificent Pick-Handle Barracuda – the Heru Darkstar Cubera Poppers are high up on the list of fish food items!

Don Burden, Craig Maree, Johann Maree, John Nell and I were fortunate to fish the St Lazarus Banks 2 weeks ago. For the 1st day and a bit, it appeared that we would not be able to reach the Banks due to inclement weather and dangerous sea conditions. And then conditions improved overnight and we were able to make the run from Matemu Island out to St Lazarus for an epic day and a half jigging and popping. Some of the best Popping of our lives and many good specimens were landed! Again, the Heru Darkstar Cubera Poppers were the most successful lures of the trip!
