I really enjoyed the OSSA section of ESA last night. As most of you know I love catching yellowtail and rate them as one of the best fighting fish in any ocean.

It was great to see the hectic excitement last night as the yellowtails showed the EAS guys how unforgiving they can be. Braid burnt off, expensive jigs and esca lures lost - not to mention the price of those hooks...And all that on 80 and 100 pound rigs!

BTW - loved the whole chokka double hook bait - must give it a shot here as well.

Out here in Struisbaai we get a lot of big yellowtail in the 12 - 17 kg class, and we have learned a long time ago to really make sure your terminal tackle is up to scratch. Testing your knots are also very important (ask Wep and Wynand) and any small defect will hand the laurels over to the yellowtail.

It was a beauty of 20kg that was landed and Dean had every reason to be proud. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next week.
