TOPIC: A winters trip to Infanta

A winters trip to Infanta 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 2
Over the past weekend, Wep, PlayOn, Amberjack and myself had an excellent time at Infanta, besides the winter cold.
We had a surprise visit by Stef and Cyn on Saturday night.
Fishing was very good for winter with plenty edibles being landed. PlayOn got a nice size Bellman and a Blacktail which counts for his 25 specie records. Wep also got the same, just that his Blacktail was a monster of +-35cm. Amberjack got plenty edibles and was kept busy on Sunday morning with a steenie of 55cm which gave him a very smart fight on light tackle. Stef and Cyn got a size Elf on white mussel, not bad. I got two Bellman and a few small edibles.
The first pic is of Wep and Amberjack carrying in loads of tackle and equipment.

Amberjack with one of the smaller steenies landed and released. His 55 cm stennie was the speedster of the weekend. PlayOn has a picture of this fish.

Wep was so glad he caught a steenie, he first gave it a kiss before releasing.

We were surprised by Stef and Cyn, here PlayOn joins them after supper, a nice fire to keep them warm and the most important a chat about angling.

Thanks guys for a great eve and morning. We enjoyed the quick trip for rotissery chicken and early morning fishing very much.

Wep is busy packing and asked me to report the following:

He was fishing the Breede with a "borrowed" 9ft Adrenalin MH drop shot rod paired with a SOL 3000 reel loaded with 7kg Xalin line and he had a ball.

He said he was immensely impressed by the combo. The rod was a pure pleasure to cast and the tip was sensitive to every small nibble. The reel performed extremely well and gave him excellent casting distance.

What also impressed him was that although he used a sliding sinker the line never showed any trace of chafing.

All in all this combination performed exceedingly well and provided not only countless hours of pleasure but also resulted in a big bag of fish including a Belman and Blactail of 1.1 kg each.

Just hope I am getting my rod back quickly - can't wait to catch a few Santer and Red Stumps on it...
