I have moved from JHB to Simonstown. Have never fished Galjoen before and was thinking of trying Kommetjie / Misty Hills area. Have read your articles on formun and that seems rough water. Any advice much appreciated .
Thanks

Hi JC

not so clued up on kommetjie/misty hills however see will always be rough after a storm and rocks will be slippery, you can try to fish at baileys cottage or if you want to venture down baden powell drive to strandfontein up to macassar, there is a few spots for galjoen, and there are always fellow anglers on the beach so you wont be sole alone on the beach fishing
good luck and stywe lyne !!

Hey JC - similar to the Cape Nature reserve - Galjoen like those ruff foamy water - so it's all good when the water is bombing. Been fishing for a while now and Galjoen when hungry normally take a 2/0 straight down...Have had no luck with those size hooks of late. However, downsizing the hook has been very successful. - 1/0 and smaller seems to be the order of the day - 5 in the last month (3 size) 2 (under size - released.) Yesterday would have been ideal - spring tide at 4pm, but the wind was strange (NW).. Water was rolling perfectly today thou - strandfontien with a light SE..(no worm- no action) - guess those guys are spoiled.

Anyways - bait to use redbait, mussel, worm combo...
Water - white, foamy and active. (continues) - and look for those gulleys - big rocks with lots of action.

Cheers good luck and - styve lyne..

if you venture down to Maccasar , ,vrot redbait has been producin fish , only afterthe spawn they get more full of nonsense bait wise , fish on low tide , so you can learn how the places look , most of our fish we do on low , but thats only becuase we only have deep gullies that we fish in ,Dawidskraal in Betties is also good , for galjoen .

Theres only 3 holes thats has good Galjeon in at the pavilion right by the pool , August is upon us and that means one thing the Baardman will be wild !!! in falsbay

tight lines!

Sounds insane - have never targeted the Baardman (belmon).
What type of conditions are we talking about. Insight would be appreciated.
