So I decided that 3 days SE , it doesn't matter what wind is blowing Vis moet ons.
I leave @ 20h00 to fetch Sleepy Smurf (Riyad) and Greedy (Ghiem) says he can't make it anymore. Get a call from KFP(Faiek) Palletjies is dead.
We go fetch Pappa Smurf(Ebi). Get a call from Dulla, die vis byt by die palletjies. Me a little confused but it's on the way so we will check it out. Come there , it's quite, ask the guys whats happening , he says nothing yet. Call Dullah, my Bru is dood hier. Wag ek phone gou die Ou. His dad says they got fish @ Broken road at the end of the wall. Get there the guy says the guys next to him caught 2 kob around 50-60cm and about a 5-8kg. He couldn't land a fish but he got bites. Pappa smurf says neh cos you must wade for your fish as the water isn't deep there but I saw a lekker hole there.
We decided Graskoppie , so when we got there, Riyaad had 2 fish and 1 released. Didn't have time too spool the Saltist 30 with line so I slapped on the Torium 14 which I use for stumps in the baan. 1st throw alles af, Sleepy throws alles af. Wat gaan aan. We put new leader etc on and then Rory lands about a 3kg on Chokka and Mackerel.

I cast , take a walk to Fuad, rods are quiet. When I come back to bait up again Ebi is on with a kob lyk soos West coast kob, very silver. The action picks up, Rods dropping left right and centre. But alas I can't connect the fish. Ebi has 3 kob so far and Riyad as well. Me, nothing after 2 hours net mooilik, kannnie die vis hak nie. Changed to 6\0 Circle hook as well. Nothing, so I reel in and its heavy I get my sinker and trace that I threw off with a barbell tangle in there. Very small barbel, I decide that I'm going to use that hook trace 5\0 blue mustad with foam on the hook, make my sinker a bit shorter like Ebi's cos he just lands and the kob picks him up.
So I cast like 50m cos 90% of the smaller kob was taken in that zone. I get a pick up and land a small kob, release him. Then I cast again and get a sizer 50cm. Then I usd a small piece of chokka finger length and not wide, cut to legs, no hammering. Put a piece of macky on and make a long cast or at least it feels like it. 2 minutes and I get picked up ,that I can't almost get the rod out of the stand. Ebi says this is a big fish. Fishing with a SU6, torium 14, 8.8kg double x,18kg Leader and 5\0 hook. The fish ran me more than 10 times. After the 6th I thought it might be a shark.
He took line and I couldn't force him cos I didn't want to loose him by breaking the thin line. He ran left and after that right, it's when he went right that he was tired. Cos I used the wave action to bring him closer till I felt no resistance and I tell Sleepy, if it's a fish you put your hands in his kiewe. Cos the water came up far and pulls lekker back . We couldn't see the fish cos the water was foam from the rod stand to 50m out. As the water retracted I see this beauty laying there and that’s about it Took 15mins to land on that setup. All in all it was a very good call from Riyaad to fish Graskoppie with a low Barometer = Deep water.
