Hi All

Any advice on where to fish and for what, launching 4.5 m SR duck at Struisbaai tomorrow ( Sunday ) up to 5 miles out or Gansbaai or Arniston.

What are the logistics of launching at the Arniston slip / permits/ fees etc ?

Thanks
Des.

Hi Des,

I have no idea about Arniston launch, we launch from Struisbaai harbour. From here the usual spot is 12 Mile Bank, and then at Groot Sandkop, and Blougansie. Then there is The Alphard Banks, 42 nautical miles SE of Struisbaai

Sorry I am not much help, but will find out for you in the morning if you like. You can call me at the shop (Struisbaai harbour) 0878090266

Hi Des
Arniston launch is a bit tricky if you need to push your boat in and out while on the trailer. There is a small breaker on the slip. if you can push the boat of the trailer and then pull it i the water and same when you come out, then it can work there. You will see the local boats have wheels.

There are plenty of good sports near the side from Arniston, but take note of the reserve and restricted areas! I prefer Struisbaai for a launch. There are plenty of good spots near the side in Struisbaai. Down to the Mond has many shallow reefs with nice red fish. The shallow bank or 5mile bank is a good spot as well. The Pioneer and Septer is also good. With your boat size you cant go to the deeper spots. Make sure your boat and skipper have all the documentation. Make a turn at Cyn at the tackle shop right in the harbor, best advice will you get there.

Hope it helps
