Lets begin
Went out Friday evening to the Gunnery, heard of some Kob coming out. When we got there 1st cast on blood worm just landed got an undersized kob, released it. Then the fish was coming out slowly so every 45- 60 min. Got another one 2 hours later on Sard and Chokka. Also undersized released. Also got a sandshark @ the gunnery which was released measured 485mm
We then moved from the Gunnery @ 3am to Sonwabe.the water was dropping. Got there baited up with Pike. Had the bait in about 30min, thought that this bait is long time off the hook. Eyes were closing in on me and all of a sudden the rod is pulled flat and I'm on, although i doubted it as the line had plenty of slack, as I'm reeling in the line starts to pull tight. I feel the fish and he starts fighting.
He starts to run to the right into my buddies line. The water is shallow in front as the tide has dropped considerably.
Pull it out and weighs 3,5kg and measured 6750mm
2 Guys about 60m to the left of us in front of the toilets @ Sonwabe pitch far with bloodworm. 10min later i here the reel screaming and check where are these guys, i see 2 guys flying out the bakkie and on dad. the 1 lands a kob about 3-4kg , the other is on with a big fish, the other one throws his bloodworm again and as he lands and walks out, he is on again so a 2kg fish. the other guy still fighting the fish. I go over and check he is pumping and not giving the fish leverage, eventually he breaks off losing the fish in the 1st breaker. Devastated by the loss , his friend gets another kob about 10min later.
We packed up @ 7am and headed home.
Saturday evening we went out again straight to Sonwabe this time. Got there so 11pm checked the beach is quite busy, the news must of travelled. 1 angler comes over to use says he caught a Bos kob. just as we got there. So now we all fired up. He had chokka on for 45min already to takes.
He tells us the fish were running the guys off the morning probably after we left. the water was great and the temp was nice.Nice colour and roll.
We baited up me with bloodworm, 4/0 circle hook just got Barbel after barbel. Eventually they stopped biting , but the wind was at least so 35km/h and not too pleasant. I changed my trace and put on a 5/0 VMC hook with Chokka the same that i used the previous evening.
Chokka in for 45min, and i get a pull and miss the fish, Bait up again with Chokka another 45-50min another pull but in both instance the drag doesn't go off and i miss that fish as well.
It's now 3:30 am and the wind is not so lekker, decide we not going to stay till sunrise cos we only slept 3 or so hours. We called it a night and no edible fish for us.
