Got the following e mail and followed his advice:
Hope you are enjoying your stay there. I have fished that area extensively and if the water is warm enough, (last I heard the easterly has made it cold) You may want to go and fish the Oysterbeds between sedgefield and Buffalo Bay. It is a bout a 5 km walk from either end. There is an area of good sandstone reefs and the musselcracker fishing can be spectacular there. (as well as galjoen, dassie, bellman and a few other reefies.) To get there, you either park at Goukamma Nature reserve (Buffalo Bay side) and walk down the beach towards sedgefield, or drive past lake pleasant hotel and go all the way to the parking area at the sea and then walk up the beach towards knysan. This weekend is spring and it fishes best for ‘cracker two hours before till two hour after spring low. (Skimmelkrans is the best spot if it is washed open) Ask someone where skimmelkrans is. (Roughly in the middle of the oysterbeds area.) The whole area fishes best on the low and pushing tide in the morning. (i.e. springs)
Tight lines.
Regards
Alan
P.S. Fish heavy, the water is shallow and the cracker get big. You are guaranteed to lose more than you land!
