To all the "da coutas", "dr. dorados", "garrick brothers", "tuna boys" the winter has been good to us here in St Lucia with Snoek even coming out on to the beach among the Garrick! Lots of sharks around causing the Snoek to jump and sending the surfers out prefering to sit and watch.
Shad coming out but small, and people getting bust with 174 shad! That's what happens when you are greedy!
I'm happy to anounce our kayak fishermen from the 'Vaal' are starting to come and try deepsea kayakfishing here at St Lucia. I've had a few beginners for surf trials - showing them the ropes of handling and reading the surf and some trips out resulting in some nice snoek, couta, queenfish and tuna. Whilst feeding the fish, and if you think that got them going, some whales and dolphins passed us causing the beers and brandies flowing that late afternoon with talk of cold smoked snoek and fish biltong! Regrettably had to turn away some adrenalin junkies with river kayaks - Boys, the sea, unlike any river has multiple personalities coming out at the same time, so get a real fishing ski like a "pinnacle ", Bamba or Perception" , and a good guide/trainer. Guys don't keep undersize fish! the parks board is watching you on google earth live! and keep your litter in a bag.
PS: It is not just all fishing guys, bring the family along as they can spend the day on a beautiful beach tanning, swimming or drive the loop roads for game viewing, have a braai or just relax under the trees while you fish. On the Vidal road we have the pleasure of seeing the elusive Leopard in broad daylight, rhino causing a "traffic jam"
refusing to leave the road, huge African Fish Eagles perched in trees and many more. Do watch the speed though !
