Overberg Angling is a website dedicated to enhancing the fishing experience for all anglers, whether you are a beginner who has never cast before or you have saltwater in your blood.
This website joins together those who have a passion for fishing and a desire to HAVE FUN!
Overberg Angling is committed to bringing more people to the sport of fishing while promoting responsible boating, angling, and conservation. Through group trips, and tournaments, anglers of various skill levels come together to network and learn/mentor amongst the group.

About Overberg Angling
Founded in 2008, the Overberg Angling Website focuses on bringing more men,women, and children to the sport of fishing, while promoting conservation and safety. Overberg Angling provides networking opportunities among anglers and we encourage mentorship within the website.
Our Members
Overberg Angling anglers are diverse, independent, and are from all over the Overberg and Western Cape areas. We have a passion for learning and sharing together.
Our Founders are Stefano Schoonees, Cynthia Theron, and Theunis Lombard.
The moment Cyn caught her first tuna in Natal, she was hooked on fishing. Although her first love is still offshore fishing, she has become a competent rock and surf angler as well, and has recently started angling competively.
Stefano has been fishing since he was a little boy, and did his first offsore trip at the tender age of ten. He has fished all over South Africa, and we are pretty sure there is more salt water in his veins than blood.
Theunis, has been angling mostly in the Garden Route, learning mostly from his renowned fishing father.He loves wandering the rocky coasts looking for the ultimate musselcracker.
Overberg Angling was born on a cloudless night at Struisbaai waiting for the fish to bite. We all thought it would be a brilliant idea to have an angling resource website that could assist would be anglers and even experienced anglers when visiting our lovely area.
Whether hiking along the beach in search of the perfect place to find that elusive fish or standing on the rocks waiting for the next bite, anglers agree on one point: that the joy of fishing is not so much at the end of the line, but in the lapping of water, the calls of birds, crashing of the waves, the sun, the wind, and the stars, and the people met along the way. Angling gives families and friends a break from their hectic schedules and time to reconnect with one another. Nothing can match the memories that you will make and the bonds that you’ll build while spending time on or next to the water.
